Spectronic history
Spectronic AB, the parent company of Spectronic Medical, was founded in 1964 by Per Siversson. For several decades, the company was a trailblazer in the research, development, and manufacturing of advanced radio communications and mobile telephony systems.
Spectronic’s groundbreaking technologies have been developed under its own brand as well as in collaboration with industry leaders such as Philips, Plessey, Bosch, Siemens, and Ericsson. Among its many pioneering achievements, Spectronic introduced the world’s first mobile phone with a built-in digital camera in 1999, and, a decade earlier in 1989, the first mobile phone equipped with an integrated digital data terminal.
All of these devices were designed and manufactured at the company’s dedicated facility in Helsingborg, Sweden.
